All of our soap is handmade from scratch, in small batches. We start with a blend of vegetable based oils such as olive, soybean, coconut and palm oils. We then add a wide variety of exotic butters, nut oils, herbal extracts, essential oils and fragrances. We color them with herbs, cosmetic grade pigments, ultramarines and/or dyes (like the ones used in manufacturing make-up). Then we cure the soap for weeks to ensure a mild, long lasting bar. Because we hand cut each bar, the bars vary slightly. This makes them all unique.
Why is Rochelle Rose Soap better than regular store bought soap?
The most important difference between our soap and commercially made soap is that our soap does not contain detergents. Commercial soap manufactures remove the glycerin from their soap and sell it to other companies to make more money. Then they replace the glycerin with chemical detergents. Glycerin is a natural by-product of our soap making process. Our soap contains all of the naturally occurring glycerin. This is important because glycerin is a humectant, meaning that it actually attracts moisture to your skin. Our soap even surpasses store bought “glycerin soap” because in addition to providing glycerin, our soaps contain a wide variety of vegetable oils and exotic butters, each imparting their own unique properties to the skin.
Are your soaps good for dry or sensitive skin?
Yes, individuals with dry or sensitive skin may be reacting to the cleansers, and harsh detergents found in store bought soaps. Our soaps are quite different. They are made with ingredients especially formulated to create mild gentle soaps which nourish your skin.
How long will the soap last?
Our soap lacks the artificial hardeners and preservatives found in commercial soap. However, with proper care your handcrafted soap should last as long as a commercial bar, or longer. Handcrafted soap shouldn’t sit in a pool of water; it should be kept in a soap dish with good drainage. If using our soap in the shower, place it in a location that is not constantly in the shower stream. Handcrafted soap may require a little extra care, but your skin will thank you for it.
Are your products “cruelty free”?
Yes, Rochelle Rose products are “cruelty free”. Our soap does not contain any tallow or animal fats; nor do we conduct animal testing. A few animal by-products are used for specific items, (such as honey and beeswax in the Oatmeal & Honey Soap) however they are always listed in the product description. We refuse to use any ingredients that are derived from harming animals so vegetarians, rest assured.
